Nanoforest. A nanotechnology roadmap for the forest products industry

Abstract: This report presents the outcome of an EU funded study to explore potential applications of nanotechnology in the Forest products industry.
Summary: Nanotechnology has potential for novel wood and wood products; pulp, papermaking and packaging; and new materials and composites. Short to medium term R&D priorities should be in wood and pulp fibre cell wall nanostructures, industrial utilisation of cellulose nanofibrils and surface treatments of wood fibres and cellulose nanofibrils.
